Stages of the writing process 馃挮

Before writing / pre-writing

It is considered one of the first stages of the writing process because it helps students to have an idea or organize their thoughts about the next composition.

This stage lets us evaluate our students' knowledge about the topic through a pre-task. Doing a pre-writing helps give the students more confidence. Some of the techniques that we could use in this stage could be:

  • Brainstorming: The teacher involves general ideas.
  • Talking: The students discuss their ideas with their classmates.
  • Writing prompts: These also help us as teachers to introduce and focus our students on a topic through an interesting topic.

During writing

In this stage, the students can structure their writing to make sense and transform it into a coherent text.

It's necessary that during this stage as a teacher we have to remind our students not to write a perfect draft.

During this stage it is recommended to write ideas such as sentences and then paragraphs, in that way allows the reader to understand the message.

Post-writing

It is the last step where the writing of the students is shared with other people. Before sharing, a teacher must help the student to make sure that the sentences are coherent. If it's necessary, correct the spelling, grammar, or even the vocabulary.
